The Few Good Men
In the first 50 years of the 20th century, a dark age descended on to the world. Civilization is plunged into the Great Depression and two World Wars. Historian John Keegan noted that after World War I, there were 29 democracies. By the middle of World War II, there were only 12 left. The first half of the 20th century is characterized by death, destruction and devastation.
What happened?
The first 50 years of the 20th century was also dominated by 5 men – Hitler, Lenin, Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill.
3 were tyrants.
The other 2 saved the world from them.
For every evil man in power, God matched with an equally good man in leadership.
For every Pharaoh, there is a Moses.
For every Saul, there is a David.
For every Ahab, there is an Elijah.
For every Haman, there is an Esther.
For every Judas, there is a John.
So if you see evil people rising around you and wonder, “Where are the good men?” – look at the man in the mirror.
For every ungodly person, there is a “you”.
Sometimes while we are waiting for God, God is waiting for us.
The lyrics of Matthew West’s song “Do something” is enlightening.
“Children sold into slavery
The thought disgusted me
So, I shook my fist at Heaven
Said, “God, why don’t You do something?”
He said, ‘I did, I created you’”
Boom! That’s the brutal truth.
In our classroom, office, family, society and even church, God created you and I to do something!

The world is not waiting for the Avengers to save them.
The world is waiting for a few good and godly men and women to do something.
This year is the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. Hitler’s Luftwaffe was trying to bomb London into submission. The heroic pilots of the RAF rose up and soared into the air in righteous defiance. In a speech during the Battle of Britain, Churchill said: “Never was so much owed by so many to so few.” Ever since, the pilots who fought in this epic battle against evil have been known as “The Few”.
Christians, let’s rise up and be counted among “The Few”.
This article really lifted my mindset. The bravery and boldness of a few, can be a freedom for many who are held captive by the silence. Inspired and encouraged to be “the few” Christians that God will use.
Such an inspiring article! It was really the those FEW RAF pilots that kept the Germans at bay, thus saving the entire country! Writing this comment during the COVID-19 season, really seeing the effect on people who are really hurting through this period. “God, why don’t You do something?” He said, ‘I did, I created you’”, it is really time to RISE UP and DO SOMETHING, want to be counted among the FEW!!!
Wow this article is so good. The ball is in our court to rise up! I realised its easy to criticise leadership but challenging to take on the challenge to make a difference and a positive change. Feel so inspired to be part of ‘the few’, not to sit back and watch to see the issues around me but to do something!
Wow this is so good! Everyone has a choice – to do something or to do nothing. After reading this, I’m determined to DO something. All it takes is for a few good men/women to rise up and do something. All the more Christians!

It’s so empowering knowing that God didn’t create superheroes to swoop in to save the world, He’s actually waiting for ordinary men and women to rise up and do something. In history and in the bible, we see ordinary people used by God to do extraordinary things. It encourages me and fills me with a sense of responsibility to do what’s right because God gave us a voice, hands and feet to fight for what’s right. So challenged to be one of The Few!

Yes as Christians we should be the few who rise up! Whem it comes to the truth, it can never be the vocal majority drowning out the truth and we become the silent minority! We have seen this happen in history and we cannot let history repeat again!

Amen. The world was created to match the good to the evils, nevertheless, we are as good as we can to be evil in God’s creation.Yet, evil can be as good when we as good Christians rise up!
